RITE OF ADMISSION TO THE ASPIRANCY

Missionaries of Charity Fathers

Hymn:
Sweet Lord, Thy thirst for souls
I satiate, with my burning love, all for Thee.
My chalice will be filled with love,
sacrifices made all for Thee.
Evermore, i will quench Thy thirst, Lord
Evermore, i will quench Thy thirst, Lord, for souls,
In union with Mary, Our Queen,
i will quench Thy thirst.”

Superior:
My brothers, what do you desire?

Brothers:
Drawn by the thirst of Jesus, we ask to be accepted as Aspirants in the Missionaries of Charity Fathers. We ask to enter into this religious family. It is our desire to give ourselves completely in loving trust, total surrender and cheerfulness. Teach us how follow Jesus in the ways of chastity, poverty, obedience, and wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor. Show us how to live as brothers in community, so as to grow and be united with Jesus, for the love and glory of God our Father.

Superior:
(while giving the medal he says the following)
My brothers, receive this image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. You have been called to begin this way of life. Accept now the duty to stand with Our Blessed Mother at the foot of the cross. Never forget her love for you. She will write the will of God upon the tilma of you heart. It is she who says to you, “No estoy aqui que soy tu Madre?” Take her into your heart and allow her to lead you to Jesus. Show her to others so as to lead them to Our Lord.

Concluding Prayer:
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of our Joy, bless your own Missionaries of Charity, help us to do all the good we can, keep us in your most pure Heart, so that we may please Jesus, through you, in you and with you.

Berta’s Story:
Berta, a young Mexican woman. Somebody informed Father Adam, MC that she was dying of cancer in the hospital. When Father arrived in her hospital room she was in pain and suffering holding the hand of the man she had lived with for several years. That evening, Berta confessed her sins, received absolution, was anointed with the oil of the sick; she received the most precious Body and Blood of Jesus dressed in a beautiful white dress, and still laying in bed she was married to the man she loved, exchanging vows with the last of her strength before God, doctors, nurses, other patients, and Father Adam, MC. 4 sacraments in one night after a life away from the Church. Berta died the next day. Some dare to ask if God is merciful or good at all— No human being in its frailty can die in peace and joy in the midst of great suffering unless it is for Love, with Love, through Love. And God loves us so much that He humbles himself to teach us this truth with His own life, giving suffering a beautiful meaning— the only one. Why wait to die in Grace when we can begin right now to live in love, in mercy? We might not have those last hours like Berta to give our life to God. But we have right now— “take the trouble to be holy. All for Jesus, through Mary.” Mother Teresa.

P.S. Please pray for Aaron and I, we will attend Steubenville San Diego July 28-30th with 2 MC fathers — God’s will be done!

Juan Pablo--
Wanted to express Kelli's and my deep gratitude for yours and Aaron's visit to Teresa in the cancer facility (seems like you are doing the same with others... such as Berta you mentioned here)... we cannot tell you how much it meant to her... and going the extra mile and bringing her back to the Mercy Father's for confession and adoration was incredible (the spiritual direction from Fr. Adam was very key for her as well). Teresa contacted us immediately, and told us how much it meant to her as she went through her cancer treatment. We will be seeing her this week. Thank you and thank your order for its amazing witness and willingness to go where ever God sends you!

PEACE--

Tom & Kelli
