…Amen, Amen I say to you…it has been one year since I arrived here…to stay! As always with time, it is difficult to believe it has been so little and so much!
ALABADO SEA JESUCRISTO!
This has been such a beautiful year of grace in pouring rain and powerful shine. So many souls have been transformed by the eternal Love of Eternal Love before my eyes and even through the simple things I may be called to do…so many times I feel I fail, but “His grace is sufficient…” and it goes beyond what I can ever imagine!
PRAISE TO YOU LORD JESUS CHRIST!
This past Monday 19th of March, our Co-founder, Fr. Joseph Langford, MC celebrated his feast name day and 29 years of priesthood. During communion thanksgiving he told us that 29 years may seem unimportant to many (yeah right!!!)…but this year meant so much for him. It is so special because he celebrates his priesthood embraced by the newly founded “I Thirst” Movement (ITM), which he prayed and worked for since he received the founding grace first given to Mother Teresa…he celebrates for the first time as a priest at the service of the message of Jesus on the Cross, witnessed by the Immaculate Heart of Mary, being lived and spread by the lay to the entire Church! He celebrates as a priest of Jesus Christ whose whole vocational charism is now open to the universe! It is the time…even H.H. Pope Benedict XVI is preaching the Thirst of Jesus aloud! (Message to the Youth, Lenten Message)
With Pope JPII and Mother Teresa’s upcoming canonization (God's Will be done) so many graces are being poured out on the entire church- how blessed are we! And the truth of the Father’s thirsting Love is more evident in His Son’s mystical body, just as it was revealed in his human body and just as it is exposed in its amazing, radiant power in the Holy Eucharist!
The message given to the MC family through our Lady’s faithful plea belongs to the Church. Our role as MC priests (me?...in the future with God’s help!) working for the salvation and sanctification of the poorest of the poor, becomes clearer as the thirsting, ineffable love of God is shared and planted by the lay movement which could be, by the Grace of God, virtually unlimited in number and resources. Mother’s words come to pass in a new dimension:
“What I can do, you cannot. What you can do I cannot. But together we can do something beautiful for God.”
–Bl. Mother Teresa
Holy Week approaches, the ultimate hour! For the MC family this is the liturgical time of our charism, standing with Mary by the Cross, “iuxta crucem cum Maria,” hearing the Father’s Love, in the power of His Spirit, as Jesus cries “I THIRST!” from the rugged Cross!
What if we were to take JPII’s Theology of the Body and see it in the light of this crucial proclamation. The fullness of humanity as created and intended by God, incarnate in His only begotten Son, Jesus, our Lord, crying out with the love that can finally fill our souls, and for the love that our souls are meant to give Him in return…thirsty not out of lack, but out of superabundance…crying, literally, with every inch of the life-giving Life…calling us back, drawing us into Himself, into His side, from which He gives us birth! So deep and so inexpressible but yet so simple: “I THIRST!” from a cross. “I THIRST!” from a God who loves you until and beyond death…to eternity; forever, just as you are!
May His will be done, and only His will, as we continue to walk enveloped in our Lady’s Heart towards the throne of Love, where our Sweet Jesus hangs until the end of time, united in our sorrows and crying with Passion for our soul and thirsting hearts!
